We support responsible forestry, helping to provide timber for today … and tomorrow
Our environment is critically important to us. It is the responsibility of all of us to do ‘our bit’. Here at C J Clarke (Timber Merchants) Ltd we strive to follow the best practise to ensure our impact on the world around us is minimal. The majority of our timber is responsibly sourced from certified suppliers who in turn follow these principles back to the forests where the timber is grown. Some is grown locally so not subject to certification.
No timber is used from any areas where there would be a detrimental impact on not only the forested trees but the local communities that depend on the area. This includes areas involved in illegal logging or trade in illegal wood, the violation of traditional or human rights, the conversion of forest to non-forest use and the introduction of genetically modified organisms in the forestry operation.
At a local level we recycle all we can. All sawdust, shavings and offcuts are repurposed. We use a council recycle bin for cardboard, plastics and other products in an effort to reduce land fill waste.
Our bespoke cutting service means we can utilise as much product as possible and offer a unique service to the local community by making available small amounts of timber and sheet material cut to order. We even take home our disposable drink cups to use as plant pots!
We comply with all local and national legal requirements pertaining to waste management. All systems are checked and monitored on a regular basis.
